I hope this helps to put your fears into perspective. The thing is not all parents are equal. Some are good and some are selfish narcissist who think a child is their accessory. Some people posting they have cut off their family may have genuine reasons and do it as part of their healing. (See my latest post for reference) As someone who has gone no contact with my family (sister and mother) social media had nothing to do with it. Neither friends or my lifestyle influenced me. It was years of me trying to be a good family member and being treated badly that did it. It's a really tough decision to not see your family and one that is not made lightly.
